Our family of four, myself, my 18 year old son, 14 year old daughter and my husband were given the opportunity to review some goods from the Abra-ca-Debora range of pancakes.

The goods received were: –

6 Original Dutch Pancakes
The pancakes are great for rustling up a quick savoury snack for those hungry children which cannot normally wait.

With these pancakes we decide to opt for a savoury filling, so I fired a little onion, some tomatoes and added a little pesto. I quickly warmed the pancakes is a non-stick frying pan for about 30 seconds. I piled in the filling and sprinkled on a little grated cheese then I served them to the whole family. These were very quickly consumed without any complaints. So this in itself speaks great volumes, my family thoroughly enjoyed them, in fact they wanted more we have to cut the remaining two in half in order to share them.

6 Sweet Dutch Pancakes
The sweet pancakes make a great quick and easy dessert with very few other ingredients having to be added.

We decided to review these pancakes one evening when my parents (both around the age of 70) came to visit. In order to give a fair review and taste the full benefit of the pancake we decided we would opt for a very basic covering of lemon juice. I warmed the pancakes in the microwave which is really speedy, it takes just 30 seconds and they smell delicious when warming. I could not wait to get the door open to eat them! We all have one each, some of use just had lemon juice and the odd one of us added a small amount of sugar. The pancakes were magnificent even with just a spot of lemon juice.

These pancakes could be filled with ice cream, chocolate, cream and marshmallows, fruit filling, bananas, maple syrup and icing sugar. The list of fillings is endless. These pancakes made a super speedy desert especially if you are pushed for time. I have to say not all of the pancakes made the filling stage as two were eaten straight from the pack and not even warmed, and they tasted great.

Both types of pancakes have a great consistency and are of adequate thickness, not too thick or too flimsy. They are moist and not dry in anyway. In fact you can eat these straight from the pack and they are fab.

One Bag of Diddy Sweet Pancakes contains 200g
We decided these would be out ultimate dipping treat, we melted chocolate for dipping and had a small bowl of chopped nuts. We dipped the diddy pancakes in chocolate and nuts and wow, once again fantastic as such a speedy treat.

These diddy pancakes are sweet, light and puffy in texture. They do not sit heavy in your stomach, they are as light as a feather. These can be eaten warm or cold. They taste that good you struggle to stop yourself from dipping into the bag for more.

The pancakes are packaged in a circular clear plastic sealed unit with removal cardboard branding covering. The cardboard branding is attractive and pleasing to the eye and once removed the cupboard provides nutritional information, allergy details and serving ideas. It also advised how to cook the pancakes. There are some general comments on the branding, some are quite amusing and provide an insight into Abra-ca-Debora.

Shelf Life
The shelf life on all of the produces is about one month (unsealed), once opened can be kept in the refrigerator for up to two days. Which is great and makes them easily access for quick snacks, your kids will love these and so will grown-ups. These pancakes are suitable for home freezing on the day of purchase prior to consuming they must be defrosted and need to be eaten with 24 hours.

I took the opportunity to look at Abra-ca-Debora’s website and there are some great recipe ideas detailed on there. My mouth was watering just reading the recipes.

Abra-Ca-Debora are very fun, tasty, easy and convenient snacks or meals. It does not have to be Pancake Day in order to enjoy these I would recommend keep some of these in your freezer for speedy snacks or back-up dessert for when unexpected guests pop by.

The products are reasonable priced and cat be purchased in most supermarkets, prices range from £1.49 – £2.00 per pack.

My overall rating for these pancake products are 5 out of 5.

Don’t forget to buy yours for Pancake Day on 17 February 2015.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
