A useful and practical Christmas gift that won’t break the bank!
The Eyejusters glasses are a completely different, and painless way of buying reading glasses. It took me a while to work out what the concept was about, but when they turned up and I was able to read the packaging and see the product, it made sense. It’s one of those products where you think ‘Why didn’t I invent that?’ because it’s such a clever idea and the more you think about it, the more ways you think of being able to use them.
Most of us are used to going to the opticians, getting a prescription and then buying ridiculously expensive frames and lenses. This can happen every year as well as our eyes change over time. However, Eyejusters glasses aren’t with a fixed lens. At the corner of each frame is a dial which changes the strength of the lens to suit each eye. It’s that simple. So, if you need different strengths for different activities, you can just adjust the lens to the requirement you need, then change it back afterwards. The lenses are only for reading (you can’t wear them in the car for instance) but they work brilliantly for unclose work, especially paperwork and screen time, which typically are at different distances so you might need different glasses anyway. There’s no need for a prescription, you just change them for each task.
The website is easy to use as there’s only 4 different frames to choose from and they’re all unisex. They’re all pretty stylish too and all work in the same way so you can have several pairs for different occasions. The lenses look a bit goggle-eyed when you see yourself in the mirror but not that different to conventional glasses. I used these at home then realised that it works perfectly for my mum to be able to borrow them – she can just adjust them to what she needs then gives them back! If you’re going on holiday and don’t want to take tons of glasses with you, I don’t see why you can’t take the one pair and share them with your other half. Or going camping? Then again, these are easy to carry and adjust. They come with a proper hard glasses case too, so they shouldn’t get squashed easily.
The lenses work very well too. It’s self-explanatory how to change the strength and means that you can have each eye at a different strength. Once you choose your glasses, delivery is free, and you have a 30-day trial. I think, though, that after 30 days you become used to having adjustable lenses and the routine of only having one pair of glasses, it’s unlikely you’ll need to return them. The price of the glasses is also comparable to optician’s glasses – each pair are either £69 or £79 each and that includes the worldwide free delivery. There’s 10% off your first order if you sign up, and if you’re anything like my family, you’ll realise the glasses end up the sole possession of one person and you have to buy yourself another pair!
This is a great Christmas present for anyone who needs reading glasses, and especially anyone who gets fed up of bringing multiple pairs with them wherever they go.
RRP: £69 to £79 (includes free worldwide delivery).
