Aldi Food Challenge Review

Reviewed by Louisa Nashir

With obesity levels at record highs we are often told to ensure our families are eating their 5 a day and more healthily almost everywhere. TV, newspapers, magazines etc… always have articles on feeding your family with healthy nutritious foods and cooking from scratch.

Sometimes this can lead to people stating they cannot afford to eat healthily as healthy foods can be more expensive than pre-packaged processed foods.

Choosing the right place to shop is an important factor, some supermarkets are a lot more expensive than others and more often than not their deals are for junk foods.

As Aldi shoppers we find we can feed our family of 4 healthily with good filling meals which don’t break the bank.

My family has been taking part in the Feed Your Family for £70 and here is our haul from our latest shop at Aldi which totalled just over £74.

As you can see we have a good range of healthy foods, vegetables, tins and a few treats.

I find a meal plan is the best way to ensure no waste from my food shop.

We usually use a Friday as our treat day and usually have a pizza or something easy to throw in the oven as it’s the end of the working and school week and we are usually tired and wanting to relax.

I am a member of Slimming World so tend to cook healthy meals throughout the week, here are a few of our meals…

As you can see we try and ensure we all eat fruit and vegetables during the day with most meals and many of my meals are made slimming world friendly which is great for all of us.

My husband works full time and takes his own lunches to work each day. He has a very hands-on job so come lunch time he is ravenous so found Aldi fabulous for ideas for pre-packed easy lunches. His current favourite is Ocean Rise Salmon Fillets in white wine and herb sauce smothered over a huge jacket potato. This really keeps him full.

Another favourite in our house is the Everyday Essentials Penne pasta. It’s so cheap and the bag lasts a good while.

We wouldn’t shop anywhere but Aldi and even when we go away we always find an Aldi close by to stock up on essentials.

Feeding a family for £70 is easily achievable with Aldi as the food is so fairly priced and really is great value for money.
