We are big fans of ALDI in our household. I decided to see how far my £70 per week food budget would stretch at ALDI. This happened to be during a week where I was trying to eat as low carb as possible.

Some items we bought:

5% fat beef mince, leeks, potatoes, onions, carrots, Tunnocks wafers, cauliflower rice, bread, semi-skimmed milk, spread, spices, pain au chocolat, baked beans, tinned tomatoes, courgette spaghetti, mushrooms, bacon, panini rolls, oven chips, chicken poppers, frozen baked potatoes, cheese, cauliflower, bananas, grapes, rice, sausage casserole and packet mix for sausage casserole.

Breakfasts that week tended to be a bacon and mushroom roll cooked with Frylight or some cereal.

Lunches were yummy homemade vegetable soup, sometimes with the potatoes left out if I was having a less carbs day.

Dinners were as follows: Chilli con carne & rice/cauliflower price (2 days), Chicken poppers, beans and oven chips (2 days) Frozen baked potato with beans and cheese (1 day), Sausage casserole using the ALDI mix (1 day) and Spaghetti bolognaise (1 day).

We ate so well that week and came in at well under the £70 budget. The food quality is excellent and the prices are great. It’s a great feeling to know that you are not compromising on quality and keeping money in your pocket as well as taking pounds off your waist.

I have been eating healthily for some time now and have lost 4 stone in total. I am so thankful to ALDI for their part in this achievement as in the past eating healthily and cooking from scratch has felt out of my budget.
