Every home always needs home furnishings to brighten and decorate their home, especially with Spring on the way, and I recently received a selection of items from ALDI’s Specialbuys Spring Home Living range (in store from 16 February 2017).
I received a shaggy rug, a tonal weave throw, a Spring home runner, a door butler, a Spring home mat, a pouffe, a Home canvas wall print and faux flowers in a watering can.
The first item I sampled was the Spring Bean Cube/Pouffe (RRP: £14.99). This is available in 6 designs including cute rabbits and ducks wearing wellies, we received the lambs design. In pastel green and white it is decorated on top with lambs with the words “Just be ewe” on top. It measures approx. 13” H x 16” W so is quite a quite size and the kids love sitting on it. It is very well packed so not too soft or hard and seems very good quality (after all it has survived the attentions of two 4 year olds for the past week and is still as good as new). This would make a good addition to any living room, whether it’s for the children to sit on or just to put your feet up at the end of a long day.
The next item out of the box was the Door Butler (RRP: £8.99). I love this mat! With its rubber base and, I believe, coir bristles (4 rows with 7 sets of bristles) it is perfect for leaving outside the front or back door and is great at removing mud and dirt from boots and shoes before entering the house. The bristles are very strong and hard wearing. It measures approx. 23”x16” so is a great size and should last a long time.
As I now had a new mat outside the front door, the next item was the Spring Home Mat (RRP: £8.99) for inside the door. The measures approx. 29”x19.5” and fits nicely. It is quite thick and hard wearing and features a bee design with the words “Please bee neat and wipe your feet”. A light-hearted way to welcome visitors. It has a non-slip base and is also washable (although there were no care instructions on how to wash it). Another good quality item that not only livens up the hallway but serves a practical purpose.
Next up was the Spring Home Runner (RRP: £14.99). I wasn’t sure where to put this as I felt it was too short for the hallway and looked lost. With its large grey chequered tones (other colours are available) I decided to put it in the children’s bedroom between their beds where it is just the right size (58”x19”) and looks rather good in their room. The also has a no-slip base and is washable and vacuums easily. This runner is good quality and seems hardwearing so should last a while.
Next was the Kirkton House Living Shaggy Rug (RRP: £14.99). The one I received is light grey in colour (other colours are available) and is very thick and shaggy and feels very luxurious. It measures approx. 32”x55”. It is great to stand on in bare feet. While probably best in a living room I decided to put it in the main bedroom where it works quite well. It also has a non-slip base and is available in cream, mint and grey. Again very good quality and adds a nice touch to the room.
Also from the Kirkton House Living range was a Tonal Weave Throw (RRP: £16.99). This was in light tonal grey colours and measures approx. 49”x63” and fits the back of the sofa quite nicely and adds a nice touch. It has tassels on each end and also makes a great warm blanket. Good quality and not too light or too heavy. It can be washed on a delicate cycle but as yet I haven’t had to wash it yet.
Next up was 2 decorative pieces; Kirkton House Living Faux Flowers and a Home canvas print.
The Spring Home Faux Flower Pot (RRP: £4.99) are pale pink flowers offset with green leaves in a small grey watering can that has a water stain effect. If you like flowers but don’t want the hassle of looking after them then this is perfect for siting in the kitchen window.
The Spring Home Canvas Wall Art (RRP: £3.99) is a large 27.5”x16”x1” (approx.) canvas print with the word HOME decorated with images of flowers and butterflies giving a good Spring look. It is quite light with pastel colours and brightens up the hallway. The canvas is quite light and is complete with pre-fixed hooks ready to hang on picture hooks or nails in the wall.
There are some great items in the Aldi Spring Home range which also includes a dining table (£59.99), a pair of dining chairs (£39.99), curtains, lanterns and more. The items I have tried have all been great quality and value for money. A great inexpensive way to give your home a Spring makeover.
The Spring Home range from Aldi’s Specialbuys will be in store from 16 February 2017 (available online from 9 February 2017) while stocks last. For more information or to find your nearest Aldi store visit www.aldi.co.uk.
