‘Would Anton and his dance partner Erin please take to the dance floor.’
I was very excited to be taking my Mum to see Anton du Beke & Erin Boag (stars of BBC Strictly Come Dancing) at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, because we had been to their first show here a few years ago. We enjoyed it then, but it was even better this time.
Anton & Erin were joined on stage by the London Concert Orchestra conducted by Richard Balcombe, singer Lance Ellington and 6 professional dancers. It was a night of surprises, with a hilarious Q&A session!
This show is all about Swing and features Moon River, Luck be a Lady, Blue Moon, Minnie The Moocher and more! We saw beautiful waltzes, a tango and the sultry Le Jazz Hot. Not only did Anton & Erin dance but they also sang and Lance didn’t just sing, he danced too! All three performed well singing and dancing together (Wherever we go). Their voices went well together and they performed great routines. There were plenty of costume changes – all very glitzy and glamorous with Erin’s dress standing out the most. Lance had the chance to showcase his voice with a few solo numbers.
Anton & Erin asked the audience to leave them some questions and they answered these in the second half – this was hilarious and gave us an insight into how funny Anton is with his quick-witted answers! We had Anton impersonating the Strictly judges and then helping a couple from the audience with their tango!! It truly was a night to remember with fantastic dancing, wonderful singing, lovely music and laughter.
As usual the Cliffs Pavilion is a great venue with easy parking (free after 6pm) on the sea front, tasty coffee in the foyer and great seats to see all the show.
A well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars from me!
Anton & Erin are currently on tour with Swing Time until 2 April 2017, for more information and tour dates visit www.antonanderin.com.
