When I was very much younger my parents had a very difficult job of trying to get me to eat vegetables and generally have a healthier diet. Being the stubborn little git that I was, my heels were firmly dug in and I steadfastly refused to do so.

How I wish that the Breville Complete Clean Soup Maker (VBL060) was around then. My parents would have had a far easier job in getting vegetables into my diet without much fuss!

When I opened the box I was a little apprehensive as there appeared to be so many parts to put together but when I read the instruction manual I was relieved that it was quite easy to assemble. After thoroughly cleaning the unit as per the instructions I set about actually making something.

Now those who know me will confirm that cooking and I are not the best of friends. In fact my cooking skills are somewhat lacking. You are not going to see me making any appearances on any cookery show. Unless that show is called “Can’t Cook At All!!!”

In the instruction manual there are a number of tasty recipes that are so easy to follow even an imbecile like me can manage to make it. But soup is only the tip of the ice-berg. There is so much that can be done with the Breville Complete Clean Soup Maker. From smoothies to hot drinks to dips the Breville soup maker has it covered.

Back to my culinary efforts with the soup maker. Following the recipe I managed to make a basic vegetable soup. They say the proof of the pudding is in the eating and so it goes with my soup. Dipping some fresh bread into the bowl I took my first bite and you know what it tasted amazing. Even if I do say so myself. The fact it was edible was amazing for me!

Not wanting to poison everyone else in the family I decided to be my own food tester. I had to have another bowl just to make sure and I was right the first time! Feeling very proud of myself for making something out of raw ingredients. For once I didn’t microwave a ready meal. For once I didn’t get something out of the freezer. For once I didn’t take the easy option and get a takeaway. I made my own food and I rightly felt proud!

After use cleaning of the Breville soup maker is so easy. Taking it apart clean the jug, collar, heating plate, seal lid and stopper in warm soapy water. Alternately the jug and collar can be washed in a dishwasher. Don’t put the other parts in a dishwasher as they may be damaged. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the motor base and dry it thoroughly. But make sure you use a mild detergent.

This Breville Complete Clean Soup Maker is an amazing thing. How I wish it was around when I was a stubborn kid I would have had my 5 a day without any fuss or tears. My parents tried everything from punishment to bribery and nothing worked! If they had the Breville their job would have been SO much easier! Now it’s a great way to give my own children vegetables in delicious tasting soup very easily.

Would I recommend it to anybody? Absolutely!
