Brewers Fayre Bristol Review

Reviewed by Carleen Gwynne

We have visited Brewers Fayre Gordano Gate in the past and were looking forward to seeing the newly renovated Beano themed Fun Factory and my children were not disappointed. Everywhere you looked in the Fun Factory it was clean and bright and the children were excited to see the characters everywhere.

The Fun Factory is split into two sections, a toddler section and another bigger section for the older children. The toddler section is a great little area full of foam pieces that they can build towers with or climb over. The small slide, Velcro foam puzzle on the wall and Little Tikes cars were all a great hit with my 3 year olds as well as lots of floor bean bags. The toddler area is surrounded by seats and tables so you can still keep a close eye on them which we found great.

The older section was great fun too with a larger slide and a much bigger tube slide both of which were OK for my children to use. They had great fun climbing to get to the slide, going through tunnels and peeping through the see through tunnels to wave to us! In the 90 minutes we were in the Fun Factory they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

We also noticed a ‘Den Room’ with tables setup for colouring and it also looked like it could be used for parties. There were also free Beano activity comics and crayons available for the children to take and shoe racks are provided to help avoid losing any shoes.

The menu has a large variety of food choices and caters for many diets. The children’s meals also had a good choice and all the meals were a good portion size. We had a two course meal – for the main course we choose the smothered chicken, sausages, egg and chips and the children had spaghetti bolognaise. Desserts were chocolate fudge cake, caramel apple betty (apple pie) and cookie double dares (a cookie sandwich with ice-cream in the middle).

All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful and the only fault we had was that the desserts took quite some time to come out after finishing the main course but apart from that we enjoyed our meal.

Gordano Gate is located on one of the main routes in Portishead with plenty of parking available and I would say is good value for money. The Fun Factory is £3 for 90 minutes of play and the meals are reasonably priced with good deals available every day.

Overall we had a fun afternoon and I would recommend this venue to family and friends.

Rating: 4.5/5
