We visited Brewers Fayre Clayton Green in Oldham this afternoon with the children. Clayton Green is located just off the A627 near the B&Q and has a Travelodge hotel next door. There is ample parking but I know it can get busy on match days being close to Oldham Athletic so worth just checking before you go during the football season.

When we arrived we were greeted promptly and taken to our table and the lady provided high chairs for us to seat the twins in. We viewed the menu and made our choices, they have a great kids menu that has lots of choices and you can have 1 course £3.99, 2 courses £4.49 or 3 courses £4.99 which I think is very reasonable for children’s meals and the portions were really good. We chose from the menu for the adults and if you go mid-week they do have offers for 2 meals £10.99 but that was not on offer today. There was plenty of choice that I think would cover any appetite or taste.

Once we had decided on our food we sorted the 3 youngest children out with wristbands to play in the play are at a cost of £3 each for 90 minutes play, there is a large soft play climbing frame, cars and various things for them to explore to keep them entertained whilst you are waiting for your food, I think this could be deemed as quite expensive compared to an actual soft play but I think it is a great facility alongside a good pub with good food.

We ordered our food and some drinks as well and they offer refill tea and coffee or refill soft drinks as well as full bar like you would expect. We had the refill drinks which with thirsty 7 and 10 years old is great as they can drink loads and it’s saves a fortune and the embarrassment of “can I have mum please can I have” every two minutes.

The older children’s starters arrived and the portion sizes were great, they had nachos with cheese and soup and they eat every last bit. We only waited a short time then for all the mains to arrive by this time the twins only 22 months old had started to get restless so I was glad it came when it did.

The portions were good and the food was warm, which is always a worry in some chain pubs you can go to. The quality was good and I had the lasagne which tasted great alongside it came garlic bread which was really nice and not what I was expecting at all.

Once we had eaten our mains we were all quite full especially the kids as they had eaten a starter as well so we did look at the dessert menu but decided not to indulge in any on this occasion but there is a wide selection to choose from again something for all tastes and we did ponder over the platter for the family which was on display on the way out and looked fabulous so wish we had tried it.

We had opened a tab when arriving in case we wanted to order extra drinks and desserts but it was extremely easy to pay the bill at the till and the lady who was working in the children’s area today Rachel was extremely nice and very helpful.

We also received some Halloween Beano magazines and Beano and Dennis the Menace is a theme that runs through all the children’s menu and food. The magazine had lots of activities to do and pictures to colour in, we brought these home with us as the twins kept us all busy enough today running around.

Brewers Fayre pubs are holding Halloween discos this Friday 30th and Saturday 31st for the children and I should imagine these will be lots of fun. Check your local Brewers Fayre for further details and you can locate them by visiting there website www.brewersfayre.co.uk.

You can also look at the menus and look at what your local Brewers Fayre has to offer before going along.
