Brewers Fayre Coach House Manchester Review

Reviewed by Angela Smith

When we received a telephone call on the day of the event as a last minute addition to visit the new Play Zone at the Brewers Fayre Coach House in Manchester we jumped at the chance, this is a play area we have visited many times before and were interested to see what they had done.

I attended the event with my 3 children aged 7, 4 and 2. The coach house is situated in the grounds of the Trafford Centre, however it has its own car park that is easy to find with ample parking spaces.

I was wondering how the staff would cope with a last minute addition as this had included booking food over the phone. I had nothing to worries about we were greeted by a very smart friendly member of staff who checked our booking and pre-ordered food with ease. The children were then given wristbands and taken over to meet Dennis the Menace and Gnasher, where they had their pictures took with the cheeky chappy. This gave the children a clue to what the new theme would be in the play area.

Into the play area and WOW what a transformation, so bright, colourful and inviting, with plenty of Dennis the Menace pictures and balloons.

The layout of the play area flows a lot better now with a designated signing in area, seated areas for food orders a craft/party room, that has a large television (playing Dennis the Menace cartoons), lots of colouring and a large connect 4 game, a brilliant space for when the little ones need a rest from the busy frame. There was a fantastic face painter and the frame itself that has been extended, brightened up and now has a much better toddler area.

The children could hardly contain their excitement, their shoes were off in seconds and they went exploring. The staff were friendly and joined in the fun with the children having their faces painted and doing crafts, as well as being on hand to tidy up and help parents.

When the food was ready we were called to the main bar area over the loud speaker and were shown to our tables. The staff were very friendly and helped as much as they could especially with my youngest who likes to run off.

The children ordered off the Beano themed menu ‘Big Bad Dog’ X2 and a ‘spaghetti beano-ese’ and I had the smothered chicken, the presentation was fantastic and it tasted even better. All 3 children cleared their plates even the fussy one. Then just when you think things couldn’t get any better the desserts arrived (bang goes my diet) warm chocolate brownie with ice cream for me and 2 chocolate sundaes, 1 strawberry sundae for the kids. Whilst I polished off my desert within minutes the kids were more interested in going to play, so the staff let me take their deserts in to the play area for them to finish at their own pace.

We stayed and played for another hour, with the children having their faces painted and tattoo’s on their arms, they even persuaded mummy to have hers done. The whole day was a massive success, with the children asking when we can come again before we even got out of the door.
