Swansea Vale Brewers Faye is in Morriston, which is a short drive from Swansea town centre and easily accessible from the M4. We visited on a lunchtime and even though the newly renovated restaurant was busy the ambience was relaxed.

We were seated quickly by friendly staff and I noticed that when more than 2 people joined the queue a staff member would open a second till to keep the waiting time down.

For starters, we ordered a sharing platter of loaded cheesy nachos and tomato soup:

The soup was nice, but the nachos were delicious, and seriously moreish, I noticed people seated close to had the Combo feast, a huge plate loaded with southern chicken goujons, potato dippers, garlic and herb breaded mushrooms, battered onion rings, BBQ chicken skewers, garlic bread and lots of dipping sauces, I will definitely be ordering this on my next visit.

Our main course was served quickly at the perfect temperature by the friendly helpful staff. My other half always orders the same thing, a mixed grill, but always moans that the steak is too small, so it was great to see Brewers Fayre had implemented a change where you can pay an extra £3.49 to upgrade to an 8oz rump.

The meal was served with 2 eggs (sorry I pinched one before taking pics) and everything was cooked perfectly.

I ordered the rib-eye, I don’t usually order steak in chain restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised, it was juicy and cooked exactly as I had requested, I really enjoyed it, there was an ample portion and I did struggle to finish it after the soup and nachos.

By the time, we finished the first 2 courses, we were in no shape for dessert, as dessert is my favourite part of any meal I was very pleasantly surprised by another change on the Brewers Fayre menu. You can take your dessert home, genius idea, very rarely I eat dessert after 2 courses, but always feel like dessert when I get home, I was delighted to take the desserts away, and enjoyed my cheesecake while watching the soaps.

If you visit in the evening you can choose from a selection of buffets, which changes every evening and is priced very competitively, perfect for evening when you don’t feel like cooking. Plus, the Sunday Carvery from 12 noon.

The play area in the new Brewers Fayre is fabulous, it’s so fresh and well thought out.
