Buying Your First Motorbike? You Need To Pick A Great Ride!

If you’re interested in riding the steel, you need to think about what you want your first bike to be. First, it’s important to realize that there are different options. You can get a dirt bike that isn’t just for driving off the road. You can get a sports bike and the clue there is in the name. Or, you can get a low, easy rider. Don’t let that term fool you, though. Some of them can be a real handful to try and handle. The Harley Davidson fits into this category. The most important thing when choosing your first bike is that you don’t bite off more than you can chew. You may have passed your test, but that doesn’t mean that you’re ready for the most powerful rides on the market. This post will help you make the right choice.

A Dirt Bike

Assuming you aren’t planning on traveling too far on your bike, a dirt bike could be a great choice. It’s not intended as an option for those who want to use their bike as a commuting vehicle. Instead, think of it as something to use for a great pastime or hobby. You can take to the hills on your day off and plummet down muddy slopes. They’re still road safe but not to the point where you want to ride one every day. It certainly shouldn’t be considered your primary vehicle.

One of the best advantages of a dirt bike is that they have great suspension. They’re also cheap to buy. For instance, you can get a 2015 Yamaha for just under seven thousand. So, quite an expensive hobby but one that’s well worth taking on if you’re brave enough to take the biggest slopes at high speed.

A Sports Bike

Sports bike are the perfect all rounders. You can commute with them, take them on the tracks and even head on longer journeys. Although, you will be stopping off quite a lot to refuel. That aside though these bikes are fun, and you do get a lot from your purchase. Something like a Kawasaki ER 6N is a great bike for first timers because it isn’t too powerful. At the same time, though, it can be a tremendous amount of fun on the road. You can pick one up for just under four grand, slightly cheaper than your average high-grade dirt bike and far more practical. This is the type of bike you could ride every day with no trouble at all.

Lowrider

Lowriders might look like they offer a relaxing ride. In a way, they do but be careful how much power you opt for. As we said, a Harley-Davidson isn’t the type of bike a beginner should purchase. That said, there are plenty of lowriders that could be the right fit. The Yamaha V Star 250 is a great choice and looks incredible too. It’s got a vintage feel and handles like a dream come true. It’s our recommendation if you want an easy ride.

We think there’s a bike type for everyone, and you should give riding a try at least once in your life.
