What a great lockdown treat – an afternoon tea gift box supplied by the Piglet Pantry via the Buyagift online company.  The voucher for this gift box arrived in a lovely gift envelope which contained clear information and the code to enable you to book your afternoon tea treat. Booking was easy. You simply entered the day you required delivery, contact information and any special requirements. Delivery cost is included in the price of the voucher although there is an extra £4.05 charge for Saturday delivery and no deliveries available on Sunday or Monday.

A browse around the Buyagift website was very interesting with a vast choice of gifts and experiences available for any occasion – worth a look with Mothers Day approaching when we will all be seeking that special gift.
The Piglet Pantry is an award winning food producer based in Worthing. They supply various venues throughout the UK in addition to providing bespoke hampers and afternoon tea boxes.

On delivery day, my Afternoon Tea Box arrived well packaged with dry ice having been used to keep the contents well chilled. I was very impressed with the enclosed information which included details of all ingredients used in each product plus how to store, heat and serve the items. The signature pink box contained a tempting array of savoury and sweet foods and after following the clear heating instructions, our superb tea-time treat was ready.

The items supplied were:
Mini Sausage Rolls – two meat and two cheese and pickle. These were delicious –
well seasoned and with very flaky pastry. The vegetarian rolls had an edible rice paper topper which the company use to denote meat or vegetarian products. These can even be personalised if required!
Small Cheese and Chive Quiches – a gorgeous quiche with well set but soft egg and cheese filling.
Scotch Eggs – Again beautifully seasoned sausage meat encasing a soft hard boiled egg.
Small Loaf Cakes – We received two carrot cakes which were so light with plump raisins and a super fluffy topping. Also a blueberry and banana loaf with a lemon curd icing and a chocolate chip loaf with caramel drizzle. All the cakes were perfect!
Scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam – These were really the star of the show! Having experienced many cream teas living in the West Country, I have never tasted such light, fluffy scones – delicious!! Of course, the discussion of cream or jam first had to be made!!
Accompanied by a cup of tea with a choice of traditional or Earl Grey, this was a truly marvellous feast.

Plenty of well produced, tasty food. A brilliant idea for a gift and with Mother’s Day on the horizon this would be an ideal treat. With no Sunday deliveries however, this would have to be delivered a day early but with such fresh produce this should be no problem.  I will certainly be using this company in the future for gift ideas – or even for a self-indulgence treat!!
