ChillFactor Jelly Maker Review

When I received the ChillFactor Jelly Maker, I thought that the packaging looked great. It comes in a box with a small window to see the product. I like the colours and the font of the design on the front and the rest of the box is equally as appealing to catch the eager eyes of children I imagine. We received the purple one but there are other colours available.

To be honest this is entirely why I wanted to try this product. My children have seen it advertised and had asked “Can we get that?” Now, my kids like jelly that is a fact. My children aren’t the most patient children in the world but most children are eager beavers right? BUT I honestly thought, what is the point of that? I had seen it retails for about £13 depending on where you purchase it. Why as a mum on a weekly budget, part with that for some jelly?? No I said at that price you can wait.

So my boys were so excited to get their hands squeezing the cup to make the jelly in minutes not hours! Here came our first hurdle, the ChillFactor needs to be kept in the freezer for at least 4-6 hours. My boys nagged me at about 4 hours and it didn’t work. So I washed the parts that cannot go in the dishwasher and put the parts in the freezer that night. I have to say that the white cool pack part stained from the green jelly mix, not a major factor but worth mentioning I think. The next day after dinner was the promise of trying again.

We followed the instructions (easy to follow) and we were very pleased to announce that it WORKED. It actually is amusing at how animated my children got at the fact that it had worked and how excited they were to eat the jelly. The maker comes with a bowl and a plastic spoon and only the plastic spoon should be used. That is great but maybe it could come with 2 spoons? It does make quite a big amount of jelly for 1 person and my boys loved sharing it and luckily I had a plastic spoon so there were no squabbles.

All in all I was impressed by this product, it is neat, modern, easily cleaned and has easy to follow instructions. In today’s society, life is in a hurry, so if there ever was that moment when I thought…”Oh no I forgot to make the jelly… it won’t set” I needn’t worry anymore.

This product gave me quality time with my children. We all had fun (small children do need to be supervised as you need to melt the jelly cubes with boiling water). My children were animated and extremely happy with the end product. So who am I, a cynical mother, to disagree? After all they are the jelly experts!

I would give ChillFactor Jelly Maker a thumbs up and a 3.5 out of 5. Can we live without it? Certainly. Could it make a nice gift for a jelly loving friend or family member? Yes.

Now my boys have this in their lives I just need to referee who is going to choose the flavour jelly we are going to make!
