The Comotomo baby bottle arrived packaged in a cardboard box which was very easy to open. The whole bottle is a very pleasing shape and consists of a soft silicone body with a rigid collar at the top to hold it up, a very soft teat (nipple) and a hard plastic ring which holds the teat and screws on to the bottle. There’s also a clear plastic lid which clicks on and adds to the rounded shape of the bottle.
When we opened the box my toddler was delighted with the tactile squashiness of the bottle and also the fact that it’s pink. We have at least six types of bottle at home already but the Comotomo nipple is the most nipple-like teat we’ve tried as it’s slightly longer than average and is also very soft. On initial inspection I was very pleased to find that the whole bottle is dishwasher safe on the top shelf and is very wide mouthed meaning it has no corners to clean around. It’s made of medical grade silicone which is hypoallergenic and BPA free.
My husband found the bottle a little unstable whilst filling and you have to be careful not to spill the milk when picking up the full bottle ready to screw the lid on. We had a few leaks down to trial and error assembling the bottle correctly to begin with. The fact that the bottle is silicone makes the temperature of the milk inside harder to gauge so it’s extra important to squirt some out to test and make sure it’s not too hot.
I have two babies, one who has never used a bottle and a toddler who has loved bottles since she discovered them at 14 months and takes every opportunity to drink from one. Both of them tried the Comotomo baby bottle. The toddler enjoyed squeezing it while she drank and said that the nipple felt nice in her mouth but she needed to lie down flat to empty the bottle due to its wide shape, the nipple is a slow flow one suitable from birth but she’s used to those. The baby really enjoyed squashing and squeezing the bottle and she even managed to drink a bit of milk from it! We shall continue to use the bottle and would consider them next time we make bottle purchases.
