Cote Brasserie is French Restaurant situated just off the Cosmopolitan district of King Street, Manchester.
I took my family on an Autumn Saturday evening to experience the culinary delights that I’d heard from different reviews of this popular restaurant chain. It was the pre-season build up towards Xmas and the markets had just opened with the city being a lot busier than normal.
Upon entering the restaurant the atmosphere was warm and calm, with mood lighting filling the place adding to the welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant was extremely busy for an early evening but this did not give the impression of a ‘quick turn-around chain’ restaurant or having to wait for a table to be free. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, showing us to a table without any rush or pressure.
The menu ranges from a number of starters, light mains and meat and fish dishes, along with a choice of Grills Poulet ‘Breton’ and Steaks. In addition a children’s and a specials menu are also available making this a comprehensive, yet simple to choose from menu.
There is also an impressive drinks menu where you can choose from 36 different wines in white, red or Rose and all reasonably priced depending on your preference.
My daughter chose the roast chicken which came in a generous portion considering this was the Children’s Menu, my wife and I had the fillet steak from the specials menu which came in a delicious red wine sauce and chestnut mushrooms. In addition to this we also included starters, dessert along with a lovely bottle of Chateau Treviac Rose, (for me and the wife!) to compliment the main course.
I was also impressed to know that the restaurant is available for breakfast that I would be keen to understand what menu this would have on offer.
The food was excellent, freshly prepared and well presented; the portions were very good while the staff were extremely helpful and approachable throughout the evening. In addition the waitress looked after our table had been particularly helpful, explaining the dishes if unsure and had also helped my daughter with her French that she has been studying at school!
Considering that we had a full three course dinner along with coffees and drinks I was surprised and pleased with the final bill that was very reasonable per head.
Overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, it has a menu that would suit any type of client, whether finishing a busy day of shopping with the family or a business lunch to a romantic dinner for two, it had something for everyone along with a calm relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. I would definitely take my family again.
