I was recently asked to purchase Dalepak & Ross products for the purpose of doing a review.

The only Ross product my local supermarket had in stock were packs of 8 beef burgers.

Dalepak – I managed to find Chinese Style Pork Ribsteaks, Minted Lamb Marinade Style Grills and Dalepak Grills.

Due to the bad weather I had to resort to cooking these products indoors in the oven.  I stood them all on top of a wire tray in the roasting tin so the heat could circulate all round them, and any fat could drain into the roasting tin below.  I was pleased I had put them on a wire tray as fat did accumulate in the roasting tin and I am not a lover of fatty food.  I was surprised how much fat they lost between them!

The Ross Prime Cut Beef Burgers had a really lovely texture, they were not at all fatty, and the flavour was very good.  Although they might have shrunk slightly in size they kept their thickness.  As I am a BBQ lover it would have been great to see how they compared flavour wise if they could have been cooked outdoors on a BBQ.

The Dalepak Grills also cooked in the oven kept their shape and thickness well.  Again I loved the texture, they were not fatty, the flavour was good, but again I wished I could have cooked them on the BBQ.

I also cooked the Dalepak Chinese Style Pork Ribsteaks in the oven, they had a good texture, were not fatty, kept their shape and thickness well, but personally I wasn’t keen on the flavour.  I am not a lover of Chinese food so that was probably the reason.

The Dalepak Minted Lamb Marinade Style Grills were also cooked in the oven, they kept their shape and thickness well.  The texture was good and they were not fatty.  Once again I wasn’t keen on the flavour of these grills although I love mint!

To sum up I loved the pure beefburgers and grills, but wasn’t keen on the Chinese or mint flavoured ones.  They all lost quite a bit of fat so I was very pleased I had stood them on a wire rack which allowed the fat to drain away.

I would buy the Ross beefburgers preferably over the Dalepak grills, but that is my own personal preference.  I think when it comes to doing a family BBQ my family will love the Dalepak Grills, Chinese Style Pork Ribsteaks and Minted Lamb Marinade Style Grills.
