Big Book of Boo-Boos
Reviewed by Claire Humpidge
I received the Disney Doc McStuffins Big Book of Boo Boos and couldn't wait for my 4 year old daughter, (whose name, coincidentally, is Boo!) to get home from school… Keeping it away from my 2 year old twins in the meantime was a challenge, as they love watching Doc McStuffins on the Disney Junior channel as much as their sister, but as the toy is marketed at over 3s, they had to accept the fact. I did find it a little odd that it was minimum age 3 though, given that it is basically a notebook and wax crayons and my girls all used such items from a much younger age!
Anyway, when Boo finally arrived home she was SO excited by her surprise, and we opened it straight away. Having just started school she is learning how to form basic written words, and wasted no time diagnosing her sister's ailments and drawing and writing in the Big Book of Boo-Boos. I asked her what she thought about the toy and her response was "I really, really, really love it. It's the goodest toy you've ever given me" Got to be honest, I'm not sure I agree entirely, but it's safe to say she likes it!
My only criticism of the Big Book of Boo-Boos, is that it states on the packaging that it is a wipe-off notebook, but try as we might we could not get it to wipe off, even though she only used the pink and purple crayons supplied with the set, and we also tried using a rubber, but still her doodles remained. There were no instructions on or inside the packaging, and I even searched online to see if there was something daft I'd missed, but to no avail.
On the whole I think it is a great gift though, especially if your child is a Doc McStuffins fan. I also feel it is reasonably good value for money as it retails at around £7. My daughters all got lots of fun out of the Big Book of Boo-Boos and I now think I'll investigate other Doc McStuffins toys for Christmas.
