I just love Edifier speakers, you can read reviews of previous speakers here. I have always found them to be of great build and sound quality, so I was looking forward to trying out the R2000DB bookshelf speakers.
Once unpacking, the box contained: 1x active speaker, 1x passive speaker, 1x remote control, 1x speaker connecting cable, 3.5mm to dual RCA audio cable, 1x dual RCA to dual RCA cable, 1x fibre optical connecting cable and a user manual.
My first impression of these speakers when I took them out of the box was how great they looked. They have a black, high-gloss finish that make them look very stylish and elegant. With removeable front covers they look great with or without them fitted.
Edifier R2000DB Speakers are a set of 2.0 bookshelf speakers, housed in wood (MDF). They can be used by a wired connection (optical or RCA) or by Bluetooth, so are perfect for PC’s, laptops, tablets, gaming systems or even your mobile phone! Pairing via Bluetooth is extremely easy.
Once connected, the sound was excellent; crystal clear and no distortion (even at the highest volume levels). I tried on RCA and Bluetooth connections and didn’t notice any difference in the sound quality. With a total output of RMS 24W × 2 + 36 W × 2, they are powerful enough for everyday movie watching, gaming or listening to your favourite music.
They can be controlled by the dials on the rear on the speaker (bass, treble and volume) or with the small remote control (supplied).
I think once again Edifier have created an excellent quality set of bookshelf speakers. They are very sturdy (they weigh approx. 9.72kg), reliable and stylish with excellent sound quality and very easy to use. At around the £240 mark, they aren’t cheap but they are definitely worth the outlay for the sound quality and aesthetics.
