I was very excited to receive the Head Jog Electric Gold Titanium Pencil Wand to review as I have never had the opportunity to try any sort of curling wand before. I am a hairdressing student so I like to try different hair appliances whenever I can.
When I plugged the wand in, I was surprised how easily and quickly it heated up to a maximum temperature of 230 degrees. It has a variable heat control from 120 degrees so it can be used at a lower temperature for anyone who does not to use too much heat on their hair. There is a 3 metre swivel power cord which is great for freedom of movement. The wand is coated in titanium which has fantastic heat conduction and it became extremely hot in seconds.
I decided to test it out on my young niece’s long straight hair and found it extremely easy to use. I used the glove and sectioned the hair into small parts, taking a small amount of hair at a time, wrapping it around the barrel from the handle end towards the tip, pointing downwards, holding for a few seconds before unravelling. The barrel is rectangular shaped as opposed to cylinder shaped like many other wands on the market. This allows the hair to stay secure while being heated instead of slipping down and it forms beautiful spiral curls.
The wand comes with a free thermal heat glove which is handy for preventing burns. The wand also has a heat resistant tip at the end which makes it easy to hold. It has a built in stand so it can be placed on a surface without having to worry about causing damage.
I am very impressed with the wand and would be happy to recommend it to anyone who likes to style their hair in different ways.
