I had a reservation at Frankie & Benny’s, Burtonwood as 10am on Saturday 30th January 2016, to sample the new breakfast menu. Although the restaurant address is Burtonwood it is actually very close to Gemini Retail Park and IKEA.
The restaurant is on a complex with a hotel and a few other food outlets so there is ample parking including disabled spaces.
We arrived just before 10am and were greeted promptly and shown to our table which was neatly set up with the new breakfast menu and children’s activity packs. The restaurant was busy, but not full, with customers eagerly enjoying the new breakfast menu.
Once seated our server Lesley introduced herself, explained the new menu and took our drinks order. Unlimited refills of tea are always welcome!! We were then given the opportunity to look at the new menu undisturbed before Lesley returned to take our order. The menu gave a good variety of breakfast choices with most adult meals starting at £5.95 and children’s breakfasts from £3.95. My teenage son ordered the bacon and maple syrup pancakes and a Pepsi and I ordered the traditional breakfast consisting of sausage, bacon, eggs, mushrooms and herb potatoes. I ordered mine with very crispy bacon and no mushrooms (I am a bit fussy).
All of the staff including Lesley were very attentive whilst we waited for breakfast ensuring drinks were always refilled. Whilst waiting for our food my son (14 years old) had a look at the kids activity pack and although it was aimed at younger children it had a good range of activities and he was made up with the recipe in there for French bread pizzas.
Our breakfasts arrived promptly, waiting less than 15 minutes for freshly cooked food. Being a fussy eater I was pleased when my instructions had been followed with lovely crispy bacon and not a mushroom in sight. The bacon and maple syrup pancakes were also great, 3 large fluffy pancakes with the bacon presented nicely on top drizzled with maple syrup. During our meal my tea was refilled twice and we had numerous other offers of refills, attentive staff but not over the top.
The new menu gave lots more options than previously including many healthy alternatives including Smashed Avocado all the way up to The Papa Grande which is one of their largest breakfasts on offer. The only downside I found to the new menu was the adding of cinnamon to all of the waffles, which I dislike but that is my personal choice, with that in mind there was still plenty to choose from.
After my meal I visited the toilets which were clean and well presented.
I would definitely recommend the new Frankie & Benny’s breakfast menu as there is something for everyone and very reasonably priced. The staff at Burtonwood, especially Lesley made our visit very enjoyable and we would definitely visit again.
