Frankie & Benny’s Southport Review
Reviewed by Anita Baxter
I went to the Frankie & Benny’s in Southport with my daughter and grandchildren, ages 10 months and 3 years old. The restaurant is just of the main seafront on the Ocean Plaza, it is an American/Italian 1950s style restaurant and bar and caters for all types of diners from families, couples and groups of all ranges. Although I have been to Frankie & Benny’s on several different occasions we are her to review the new menu.
We arrived at Frankie &Benny’s and they seated at a table that enabled me in my wheelchair to get up to the table and they also had a high chair for my grandchild. We asked for the new menu which the staff member gave us. He also gave us a children pack for the children to do. We checked through the menu and ordered our food:
Starters
Rosemary bread; freshly baked Rosemary bread, served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Double dip dough balls; warm dough balls, with garlic and cheese dips.
Children’s garlic bread.
Mains (Adults)
BBQ Chicken and ribs; half a roasted chicken and a half rack of ribs, smothered in our new signature BBQ sauce with golden fries, coleslaw and corn on cob.
Grilled Chicken Pizza; grilled chicken breast in a toasted pitta, filled with lettuce, mayo and a choice of new signature BBQ sauce, new Louisiana hot sauce or simply chard grilled. Served with corn on the cob, coleslaw and golden fries.
Mains (Children)
Sausage & Mash; two tasty sausages and creamed mashed potato with veg.
Fish fingers; fabulous cod fingers with mashed potato and beans.
Desserts (Children)
Ice Cream Sundae; honeycomb pieces served with a scoop of our real dairy vanilla 2 Scoops ice cream with sauce and milky bar buttons.
Desserts (Adults)
Eli’s Salt Caramel Cheesecake; a magnificently creamy cheesecake topped with salt caramel sauce and chocolate covered honeycomb pieces. Served with a scoop of our real dairy vanilla ice cream.
American coffee.
We spent several hours at Frankie & Benny’s enjoying the food and the whole atmosphere that afternoon was lovely.
The staff were very helpful, the food came on time and well-presented and hot. Being a disabled customer it was nice to have a decent size disabled toilets that were also clean. My only criticism is the state of high chairs they were filthy dirty, we wiped them but it was ingrained with dirt they need to replace them.
There is plenty of variety on the new menu and Frankie & Benny’s is definitely worth a visit.
Rating: 4.5/5
