Well, that certainly rescued me from my mid-week blues. I haven’t laughed that much in ages. In fact, I can’t remember ever laughing so much.
The show is about the trials and tribulations of middle aged women. I haven’t quite reached that particular part of my life yet, but I could relate to a lot of the topics covered with great amusement.
The lines on Facebook, family life and the other social pressures in everyday life were hilarious.
They also covered some hilarious aspects of female life from the menopause, sagging breasts, ungrateful offspring, Spanx and MEN!
There were a few men in the audience and the gentleman who was sat right in front of me laughed nearly the whole way through the show.
The set and plot were simple, but extremely clever.
I think I laughed the most at the individual comedy sketches throughout the show. The ‘Doctor’s Visit‘ and ‘The C word (Christmas)’ being my favourite.
The stars Jenny Eclair, Dillie Keane and Lizzie Roper were brilliant. Dillie Keane stealing the show for me.
They did lose their places at times because they were laughing along with the audience. This for me just made the show even more authentic. The theme of the show is about women uniting and triumphing their skills and making the world sit up and notice us with all our glory. Female empowerment at any age with humour thrown in.
Grumpy Old Women To The Rescue… getting things of their chest and causing middle aged mayhem with excellent themes. Very funny and down to earth. Excellent!
The Hawth in Crawley is easy to find and has a large amount of free car parking. It is a modern venue with large auditoriums. There are plenty of toilets, a cafe, restaurant and a number of bars for reasonably priced refreshments. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. What’s great about The Hawth is that there are no restrictive view seats in my opinion. Wherever you get seated you will get a great view of the stage. I’m never disappointed when I visit there.
