Paul Chowdhry, Josh Widdicombe & Seann Walsh among the first acts to take on Ze Germans

The German sausage eatery, Herman ze German, has today announced a series of comedy shows taking place at their Old Compton Street home. Commencing on Monday 28 October for eight weeks, the very special ‘Work in Progress’ shows will see some of the finest talents in comedy test run their new material ahead of appearing on Channel 4 series 'Stand Up for the Week' show. Audiences of just 65 people will be able to laugh along to esteemed comedians and comediennes in the delightfully intimate setting of the Herman ze German basement. Acts confirmed include two of the best emerging talents on the circuit at the moment, Josh Widdicombe and Seann Walsh, along with established acts such as critically acclaimed Paul Chowdhry and the unmissable funny-man Simon Evans. Accompanying an evening of jokes and jibes will be a serving of scrumptious German food and beer which Herman ze German is known and loved for. Punters can dine on top quality wurst and meatballs washed down with refreshing and rare German beers. Since the grand opening in August this year, Herman ze German in Soho has been serving up fine German dishes to hundreds of customers every week. However little have they known they have been standing above one of London’s coolest entertainment spaces in the form of the Herman ze German basement. Firmly sticking to the belief that good food and entertainment go hand-in-hand, the eatery if proud to reveal the first in what is set to be a regular entertainment program at the venue.

The ‘Work in Progress’ comedy series is a fantastic opportunity to view world-class comics in an informal and personal setting, plus being great value-for-money. Young talents Josh Widdicombe and Seann Walsh will be performing fresh from recording their DVD at Hammersmith Apollo, whilst King of cynicism Simon Evans will no doubt delight audiences with his quick-witted observations. The brand-new host of Channel 4’s ‘Stand Up for the Week’, Paul Chowdhry will also be present to practice his critically-acclaimed material, whilst the ever-sardonic Romesh Ranganathan will also be performing. Comedienne and professional pessimist, Angela Barnes, completes the very special line-up.

Known for their own cheeky sense of humour and witty slogans, Herman ze German are purveyors of some of the finest German sausages to be served out of the motherland. Offering a delicious selection of bratwursts, bockwursts, currywursts and meatballs, each dish is made from an authentic German recipe using the freshest, free-range meat.
