MACCA – The Concert isa celebration of the music of Paul McCartney and was a great hit last night at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre.
The theatre, as always was clean and represented by friendly smiling staff. With plenty of nearby parking and restaurants it’s a great destination for a night out. Tonight my dad and I ventured out to see Macca and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
The concert features many songs from Paul’s time in Wings as well as his solo time and even includes some of his famous duets with the likes of Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.
Featuring a 9 piece band the stars of this show have come off the back of the West End and touring productions of ‘Let it Be’ the Beatles story. Led by the fantastic Emanuele Angeletti as Paul McCartney his band are made up of his Let It Be co-stars Ringo, George & John otherwise known as Luke Roberts, John Brosnan & Paul Canning respectively on the drums, guitar and bass.
Equipped with 70s appropriate hair and costume Emanuele performs brilliantly as Paul, complete with an authentic sounding Liverpudlian accent, as they cover his Wings years with songs like ‘Long and Winding Road’, ‘Let me roll it’, ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Band on the Run’.
After a short interval they are back, with new 80s hair and an update on the wardrobe to sing us through favourites like ‘Ebony & Ivory’, ‘Here today’ – the song he wrote for John Lennon and ‘Coming Up’. Followed by some well-loved Beatles hits ‘Something in the Way’, ‘Let it be’, ‘Get Back’ and a few more!!
There was some great on stage banter between the band, they seemed to genuinely be enjoying the show and have a great rapport. Overall Emanuele makes a perfect Paul McCartney, vocally and musically! A must see show for any McCartney fan!
