The JD Bug “the original kick scooter” would make an idea gift this Christmas.
The Original Street series comes in lots of colours… silver, black, pink, red, purple, turquoise but it is the blue one I have received. It is a lovely bright metallic blue that looks a little sparkly when it catches the light.
The scooter arrived boxed but as it is a folding scooter, it is complete within the box and only requires you to follow the few simple steps within the instructions to have it up and running in no time.
Firstly, insert the handlebars into the stem next unfold the scooter using the lever next to the front wheel. The folding mechanism is guarded by a plastic cover to ensure fingers do not get caught – a great safety feature. Lastly adjust the handlebars to suit the rider using the quick release clamp. There is an Allen key included to adjust the clamp but this is the only tool required.
The scooter feels robust and is well finished. The standing platform has a textured area for grip and it has adjustable height handlebars with comfortable grips. It comes with a carrying strap for ease of transportation when not scooting.
The JD Bug scooter is a fun, smooth ride, we tried it out on both pavements and paths where we gathered a fair amount of speed, luckily the rear foot brake works well. It is suitable for those aged 8 years and older and between 35 and 100kg.
The footplate is long enough and the handle bars tall enough for an adult to use the scooter – ideal to scoot home from the school run instead of pushing!
I highly recommend this scooter and the only small downside is that it only comes with a 30-day guarantee with www.skates.co.uk which doesn’t seem that long (If any issues arise after this time, warranty cover will be passed over to the brands & suppliers Skates.co.uk work with).
Available to buy from www.skates.co.uk.
