My 2 year old daughter was particularly happy when this Workbench Playset from John Lewis arrived for us to review. She has been playing with it almost constantly since it was opened.

It’s colourful and durable. The screwdriver and hammer accessories are the perfect size for her little hands. There is a good range of realistic sound effects (each tool has a different sound), flashing lights and tunes to keep her occupied for some time. My only negative comment is that it is an extremely loud toy! Don’t get me wrong, we are used to noisy children’s toys but this does seem to be the loudest by far! There are no switches to turn down the volume which would have been lovely.

It came with pre-installed batteries so it could be played with straightaway, although these are for demonstration only so will need to be replaced soon. It did take a little while to remove the toy from the packaging as it was screwed in. The wires holding in the screwdriver and hammer were also tricky to undo. However, my daughter seems to love it and it is great for her concentration and hand eye coordination!
