La Vina is an authentic Spanish tapas and wine restaurant situated in the city centre. The opening times are Monday -Sunday 11.00 – 23.30 and prices range from £2.95 to £10.95. La Viña Liverpool also has live music every other Thursday, with Spanish guitarist/vocalist.
On arrival at La Vins you first notice how beautiful it is even from the outside, it looks so inviting and cosy with candles glowing on each table. On entering I was greeted by Carolina, the General Manager, very quickly with no waiting and she gave us such a warm welcome. She escorted us to our table and presented us with the various menus, which included an extensive wine list which included Spanish wines, sherry’s and cava. She also informed us of the specials board. We were offered the new Strawberry Cava Sangria which was beautifully presented and so delicious and refreshing this went down a treat.
For starters we had the selection of freshly baked breads served with olive oil and a sherry vinegar reduction and Aceituas Especial, amazing large olives from Seville, with a board of a selection of delicious meats and cheese. The next course were various specials from the board which included Prawn and Chorizo skewers, oh my they were so delicious as were the prawns in garlic. I don’t usually eat squid but Carolina suggested we try the squid rings stuffed with piquito pepper and mushrooms and I’m so glad I did, they were so filling and tasty as was the chicken thighs with white wine.
For our next course we chose Buey A La Vina, 4oz chargrilled 28 day old rump served with a blue cheese gratin and cherry tomato and pork shoulder steak served with fried potatoes with a sun dried tomato sauce and roasted garlic mayonnaise and a spinach and cauliflower bake with a hint of cheese, these vegetables were the best I have ever tasted and wanted to order more and more but was so full and with great delight had the dessert to sample.
The dessert was a Spanish cheesecake and ice cream and churros with chocolate sauce and little fruit kebabs.
Every plate of food was rich and delicious bursting with flavours, home cooked Spanish cuisine like you would not find in any other tapas restaurant. This is a fantastic restaurant with friendly, helpful staff and amazing food. I had one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had at La Vina and will be returning on a regular basis to sample this great food once again with my family and friends.
If you want a delicious meal in an authentic Spanish restaurant then come to La Vina you will not be disappointed. This is easily deserving of 5 stars. Friendly staff you will feel like you are in Spain.
