WOW, WOW, WOW…. Absolutely amazing.
Milton Keynes Theatre is a great one for many reasons, parking is easy but it’s always advisable to get there at least 30-60 minutes before the show to get close by and what better way to start off your evening with a pre-show dinner as the theatre is surrounded by many bars and restaurants.
The staff are 2nd to none, they always go that extra mile to help and assist you. It’s highly presentable with a piano bar that’s decorated really nicely. There is also an Ambassador Bar, this is lovely for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries etc…
We were seated in row JJ, great view of the stage, props and cast.
I saw the original show back in the 90’s and Michael has really made some awesome changes for the best to this show. He’s gone that extra mile on costumes, especially the Lords and the Warrior costumes.
It truly has some of the world’s most outstanding young dancers and musicians, delivering fantastic performances that get you toe tapping, jigging in your seat and the finale will definitely have you up on your toes dancing. With new music by composer Gerard Fahy, this ‘extraordinary and supremely stirring show’ has put together the best of tradition with all the excitement of new music and dance.
The Lord along with the leader of the Warriors are both fantastic! They really do put their heart and soul into their role and performs amazingly. The girls are beautifully gracious and dance like they’re on air, although I personally, would’ve liked so see them have a bit more ‘umpf’ by giving them something a bit more gutsy to dance to, but that’s just my personal opinion and doesn’t reflect their performance at all. They are mesmerising in their performances.
The dancers work in sync perfectly, no one is out of place which is amazing and to think, they do this 8 times a week, twice a day on 2 days and still give an outstanding performance.
There are some scenes which have got people talking, by this, I mean where the ladies are dancing in very small crop tops, shorts and tights and show some of flesh, as do the men in some scenes where they take their t-shirt off. I personally, wasn’t at all offended, Michael Flatley has turned something traditional into something that’s breathtakingly talented and modern, so… they show a bit of flesh… it’s nothing. I would understand if it was promoting good old fashioned, traditional Irish dancing but it’s not.
Be prepared for a memorable, show stopping experience that will blow your mind!
