A night filled with so much laughter our mouths hurt, definitely a show worth watching.

Marcus Brigstocke avoided his usual comedic style of politics and angry observations for a more light hearted show all about him and his life. The audience lapped up the fun that Marcus brought to the show and enjoyed an unforgettable night. With comedy set on various parts of Marcus’ life from his current situation of him living in Clapham to him being a teenage Goth with an eating disorder you can relate to the situations and that makes it even funnier. So much so that the friend that joined me to watch his show unexpectedly laughed throughout his performance even though she never enjoys stand up and just doesn’t understand comedy in the slightest. She went from being possibly the most uncomfortable person in the audience to laughing the most, nothing makes her laugh so well done Marcus!

Although this show aimed to leave his political comedy behind (for now) elements were subtly thrown in on occasions, and in some cases not so subtly. But nothing his audience didn’t agree with – fight for your NHS definitely kept the audience on his wavelength.

As a BBC radio 4 presenter some of Marcus’ show didn’t necessarily stand up to BBC’s broadcasting rules and I hope that this didn’t put off his loyal followers, it certainly never put me off.

Marcus wasn’t the only pleasure last night, his show was held in the Quays theatre in Salford, Lowry. The best thing about visiting the Lowry is that the staff are always happy to help and are always so pleasant.

Definitely not the Marcus that I am used to watching on the TV but a hilarious show and an amazing night.
