I was chosen to review the Michael Jackson Tribute at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable on Thursday night. We arrived at the theatre car park to find lots of free parking available. After a short walk we arrived at the theatre. We walked into the foyer which was busy with people all looking forward to seeing the show. The foyer has been decorated ready for Christmas with 2 beautiful Christmas trees taking pride of place at each end and we felt a lovely atmosphere. We went to reception to pick up our tickets and were greeted by very friendly staff. We ordered refreshments for half time and they were left for us to be picked up with a number of other orders.
We went into the auditorium and were shown to our seats, which were the rear stalls. We were able to see everything on stage. At 7.30pm the curtain rose and the show started, he was brilliant. There were 2 guitarists, a drummer and a backing singer who were also brilliant. To add to all the razzamatazz on stage were 3 dancers who had so many different costume changes I lost count. His performance was fabulous he sang so many different songs, including Bad, Dirty Diana, Man in the Mirror and Thriller which was amazing, the dance and costumes were just as you would have seen the late great Michael Jackson perform. The evening absolutely flew by as it was so entertaining.
When the show was over he came back on stage for an encore after the crowd were shouting for more. He sang Billie Jean and included the famous ‘moonwalk’ routine which had the audience on their feet dancing and singing. The very last song of the evening was ‘Heal the World’ it was very emotional after the atrocities which have been happening in the world. After the show you could meet ‘Michael Jackson’ aka Ben and have photos with him.
I would definitely recommend this show.
