Moving Home Tips

When I moved from one part of Luton to another back in November time, it was quite stressful as it took several runs in my car to move all of my belongings. Thankfully I did have help from a friend. Because I was pretty much starting over, I only had a couple of small cube units to move and personal items.  I have put together some tips to take the stress out of moving home or office:

Book some professional help with your move

If you are in the London area, a man and van that provide same day services in London would be ideal to help with your move. Their website is clear and concise, and they offer free quotes. Their website also offers the peace of mine of being able to read reviews from their previous customers before you decide to book their services. If you are moving further afield, they offer long distance moving services too. If you are feeling stuck and need some advice, the good news is their advice is free. If you are like myself and only have mainly small personal items to move, you will be glad to know that they offer different sizes of van, at very competitive prices . A medium van can move roughly the contents of one room. If you have contents of a full house to move, then their large van would be more suitable. If you are moving offices, their large van would be perfect for this purpose. You can phone The Man Van on 0203 773 9113.

What I like about this company is their transparency. The bottom paragraph of their home page explains about minimum hours to book and about any surcharges. This means no nasty surprises when you get the bill. Whilst there is a reasonable minimum 2-hour period to book them for, if you only needed their services for 2.5 hours, you would be charged for 2.5 hours not for 3 hours.

Buy some boxes, bubble wrap, parcel tape and permanent markers

I recommend buying some large boxes and writing on each one ‘kitchen’, ‘bathroom’ etc. This means that you can place the box in the right room when the day comes, and you move into your new home. Don’t forget to protect any breakable items with bubble wrap or newspaper, especially your crockery and glasses.

Declutter before your move

Now is the perfect time to sell any unwanted items. Your local social media selling pages can be great for this. You will even have some money to spend on any items you need for your new place.

Pack your belongings well in advance

If you have items in your home that you do not use on a regular basis, pack them up well in advance of your move. Packing your items up bit by bit will make the whole process feel less daunting.

I hope that my tips help make your next move a less daunting process.
