Hilarious and relevant for every Mum…. Mum’s the Word 2 “From Toddlers to Teenagers” touches on many of the trial and tribulations of raising children.
An amazing cast of Jane McCarry (Isa from Still Game), Libby McArthur (River CIty), Lorraine McIntosh (lead singer of Deacon Blue), Julie Wilson Nimmo (Miss Hoolie from Balamory) and Susie McGuire (Radio Clyde DJ) addresses many taboo subjects. They chat about labour, relationships, and the dreaded teenager challenges… I laughed until I cried although it was slightly nervous laughter about what lies ahead with the teen years!
I really identified with Mc Carry’s character Alison who conveyed the emotional roller coaster of having a premature baby so well.
It is reassuring that the show ends with their experiences of how teenagers come out the other side so there is hope!
The show is fabulously written by Linda A Carson, Jill Daum, Alison Kelly, Robin Nicol, Barbara Pollard and Deb Williams, directed by Wayne Harrison and produced by Robert C Kelly. It was first produced in 1995 in Vancouver, Canada.
The King’s Theatre is located in Leven Street in the Tollcross area of Edinburgh. It is a short taxi ride from Haymarket or Waverley Train station. There is on street parking is the area as well. It is a beautiful traditional theatre built in 1906 and upgraded to improve the experience in the 80’s. The staff were friendly and helpful.
