I was lucky enough to be able to attend, with a friend, the launch for this wonderful restaurant. You can see from the way the staff greeted you to the food that was served to us that this is definitely a labour of love. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and you can see the “nature” theme throughout which nat•ive wanted to convey to their guests.

The restaurant was very easy to find – the location (Neal’s Yard) is very famous as it is and the restaurant front was clear and, even in the evening, stood out and was easily spotted. The closest tube station would be Tottenham Court Road or Covent Garden and it is a short walk from there.

We were very warmly greeted at the door, registered and given our welcome drinks. Sloe fruit in Prosecco – it was amazing! We were then directed down a spiral, metal staircase (which I wouldn’t attempt after a few glasses of Prosecco) to a cosy room downstairs. There were handmade wooden tables and chairs that looked and kept with the natural theme of the restaurant. I was later to find out that Imogen (one of the owners) had made them herself. The space was small but it did not feel as though people were being crowded in. There was a quaint booth that could be used for a group of 6 (and if you didn’t mind getting up close and personal – you could squeeze in 8)!

The food itself was nothing short of extraordinary. From the Venison Tostadas, Wood Pigeon on homemade flatbread, the pheasant fritters to the truly mouth-watering Rhubarb and custard pastry bites. I know that they had amended the menu so that they could get as much variation for everyone to try in the short space of time – but each mouthful left me wanting more. I will definitely be visiting again and ordering almost everything on that menu.

They also mentioned that they will be happy to rent out the whole restaurant for bigger parties and my guest and I were definitely looking at taking clients there for entertaining.

Would I do this again – ABSOLUTELY!
