Nextbase Dash Cam 312GW Review

Reviewed by Jackie Page-Streeton

After placing the order, the Nextbase iN-CAR CAM™ 312GW dash cam arrived promptly and well packaged. As I had been on the lookout for a decent dash cam for some time I was excited to get this up and running and taking it for a test drive.

The instruction manual come on a disc (CD) and is clear and concise, it can also be downloaded from the Nextbase website. Installation of the dash cam was quick and easy however you need to ensure that the camera is fully charged before fitting.

It is compatible with microSDHC memory cards (not supplied with the camera so need to be purchased separately), so I installed a 32GB card which is ideal for long journeys, not to mention vehicle security as it will record all activity (32GB has a recording time of 3.7 hours).

Attaching the camera to the windscreen is very simple as it comes with a single suction pad and due to its compact size, it fits snuggly behind either the rear-view mirror or sun visor without creating a distraction while driving. It comes with a very long 12v cable which plugs into the cigarette lighter socket or alternatively can be hard wired professionally for a more permanent fixture.

The dash cam can record from 2, 3 and 5-minute intervals which are adjustable and run on a continuous loop, with full 1080p High Definition recording at 30fps. Within the unit itself it contains a knock sensor (G Sensor) so if anything were to collide with your vehicle it would automatically switch itself on and begin recording (featuring SOS data protection that prevents the impact/event recording from being deleted). It has a 140-degree HD camera (with Six-Element Sharp Lenses made with 6 layers of glass to provide stunning clear images) which enables clear footage during both the day time and night time which can be reviewed on the actual cameras Ultra clear 2.7” LED display screen as and when required, as well as via a laptop or PC using the supplied USB cable. It is also Wi-Fi so that you can easily connect the camera to your smart phone (iOS or Android) and it is GPS enabled with logging so you can store your location details of your journey on the SD card.

I am very pleased with the performance of product and would like to congratulate Nextbase on such a good quality product. It is very easy to install, set up and use. It provides clear images on playback and is very useful in terms of proving who is at fault if and when an accident does occur (whether to your car of a third party).

This would make an ideal Easter gift for that special safety conscious driver in your life.
