NOW That’s What I Call … compilation albums have been around for as long as I can remember and I was sent their latest offering for review; NOW That’s What I Call Classic Rock – a 3 CD box set, featuring a massive 63 tracks by various artists, of classic rock songs from the 1960’, 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s. It features classic artists like Queen (We Will Rock You), Deep Purple (Smoke On The Water), Alice Cooper (School’s Out), Status Quo (Down Down), Kiss (Crazy Crazy Nights), U2 (With or Without You), Meat Loaf (Bat Out of Hell), Blue Oyster Cult (Don’t Dear The Reaper), Whitesnake (Fool For Your Loving), Lenny Kravitz (Are You Gonna Go My Way), Iggy Pop (The Passenger) to relatively more recent bands such as Blink 182 (All The Small Things), Wheatus (Teenage Dirtbag) and Alien Ant Farm (Smooth Criminal).

Usually I find with box set compilation albums is that I usually find 1 CD in the set that I don’t like but with this Classic Rock offering I like all 3 discs. There is a good mix of tracks from different eras so it will appeal to every generation of rock lovers. The first 2 discs the older tracks while the third disc covers the newest of the compiled tracks. While I wouldn’t consider all the tracks “classic rock” they are nonetheless good fillers but that is just personal choice.

Overall, I love this Classic Rock compilation and there are only a few tracks that I personally skip by, but as music is a personal choice these will appeal to others.

This box set would make a great gift for birthday’s or Father’s Day and with a RRP of £12.99 it is excellent value.
