Last week I received an OXO Good Grips Angled Baster with Cleaning Brush to try. When it arrived the packaging was simple but had all information needed on it and I thought the actual baster was a good sturdy material compared to other basters I have owned previously. The addition of a perfectly sized cleaning brush was an added bonus.
I used the baster with a Sunday roast joint it was easy to use and withstood the temperature of the fat with no issues. I was able to transfer some of the fat between roasting dishes onto the roast potatoes without any real mess or spillage.
When finished with I was able to wash it through with hot soapy water using the brush to ensure I got to all the places the fat had been in contact with. I then used the bulb to pull up some clean hot water to ensure no residue and left it to drain. After a few hours I checked and the bulb seemed absolutely dry. Two days later I smelled the baster and there was no musty smell so it must have drained and dried properly on its own.
As I have previously owned OXO products and have always been impressed with how long they perform for, I have no reason to believe this should be any different. These basters are available online and have an RRP of £10. While this seems expensive it is worth it if you are not buying a new cheap one every 6-12 months.
I give this product 4/5 as the cost can be a little prohibitive. A good product well made.
