I had twin boys 10 months ago and so hadn’t been away since they were born. We were delighted to get the opportunity of reviewing the Withernsea Sands location of Park Resorts.

We chose a 3 bedroom caravan so that a friend could come along with her children. Due to my daughter being at school on the Friday and my partner working till late Friday night, we decided to set off for the park on Saturday morning. My friend has younger children and so could stay the full time from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. My friend arrived at the park to be greeted by helpful staff. She was quickly given the caravan key and told that a spare key was available so we could each do our own thing.

The caravan itself was easy to find using the park map and was stylish, modern and well equipped. The furniture even had corner protectors fitted which was a godsend with 4 babies in the caravan. Before we arrived on site my friend and her children enjoyed a visit to the children’s entertainment in the showbar and a lovely swim in the indoor swimming pool. We arrived early afternoon after finding the park easily using sat nav, to be greeted by a helpful member of staff and given the spare caravan key. While my friend and her children explored the local area off site, we unpacked and settled in to the caravan. I was pleased to see that there was enough room next to the caravan for 2 cars to park. My daughter then wanted to go for a swim so we headed over to the main building. A helpful lady at reception put my laptop in their safe and we headed off to the pool. Upon arrival we had to take off our shoes and were given coloured wristbands. These allowed staff to control how long people were in the pool and were a great idea. There was a large family changing room and 2 changing rooms suitable for 2 people. My partner is a non-swimmer and so I was delighted to see that there was a spectator’s area with tables and chairs. He enjoyed a quiet read of the paper while I took my daughter and twin boys into the pool. My daughter is not a very confident swimmer so I was glad to see plenty of life guards on hand and that the pool was a nice depth for her to feel secure. My twin boys grinned away while floating in their twin float.

After a lovely swim we headed back to our caravan to drop off our belongings before heading to the showbar for a snack. I bought 2 hot dogs and 2 portions of chips for £6.40 which I thought was very reasonable. The food came quickly and was hot and tasty. My daughter had a quick play in the play area. We then went back to the caravan for a couple of hours before heading back over to the showbar for dinner. My partner chose ham, egg and chips, I had chicken fahitas and my daughter had fish fingers, chips and beans. This came to £23 including drinks and an icecream dessert for my daughter.  We purposely chose the cheaper items on the menu, but the other food was reasonably priced too, ranging from £5.20 – £10.00+ for steaks etc…  We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and were stuffed.  The showbar was very busy but there was ample seating for everyone. There was bingo on at 6.15 followed by other entertainment. Sparkle came to see the children and my daughter and twins were so excited to meet Sparkle. There was lots of fun going on and the entertainment staff were very good. Adults and children got involved and teams had to compete against each other performing funny tasks. We didn’t stay long as we have young children, so we headed back to the caravan to settle the twins for bed. I was glad to see that there was plenty of space in the living room of the caravan to put up the 2 travel cots I had booked. Having travel cots available to book is great as there is nothing worse than being overloaded in the car.

The next morning we got up early, ate breakfast and enjoyed a game of boules outside the caravan. We then went over to the showbar to see what the children’s entertainment was like. My partner and daughter got to try out circus things like the diablo and plate spinning. This was great fun. We then enjoyed a very competitive game of mini golf before heading back to the caravan via the zip wire and swing. We ate lunch and then headed home as my daughter had school the next day. My friend stayed until the Monday morning and her children loved their visits to the onsite play areas.

All the staff we came across were friendly and professional. It’s lovely to see people enjoying their jobs so much. There was a well-stocked park mart supermarket with a launderette available too. The touring areas were tidy, clean and well equipped.  We were missing a dust pan and tin opener in our caravan initially but this was immediately sorted out. The beds/sofas in the caravan were comfortable and we all had a lovely night’s sleep once the babies were all settled. All the children loved it there and my daughter had a grin on her face the whole weekend. One facility we didn’t try out was the sports pitch, but it looked great and is free of charge. Food and drinks charges were reasonable and a lovely touch was having a showbar menu in the caravan as well as a food/drinks delivery menu whereby they deliver to your caravan. Everywhere we went on the park was immaculately clean and tidy. Both of the outdoor play areas (one for children under 6 and one for older children) were great fun and had plenty of things to do. We would recommend this park to anyone and Park Resorts as a whole. In fact, we are already planning a return visit either back to the same park or another park.

One last thing to note is that the Park sent out useful emails before our stay letting us know what to take with us, and we also got a lovely email after our stay too.  Such a nice touch!
