My children and I were very keen to see this, as we all love the story of Peter Pan. Peter Pan is being performed at the Milton Keynes Theatre in Milton Keynes until 11 January 2015. There is ample parking nearby which is free after 6pm.

The theatre was, as always clean and welcoming. This time they had decorated it with a pirate theme, and this helped add to the excitement. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, happily chatting to both adults and children as we entered the theatre. The programme is bright and colourful with a special activity section perfect for little ones!

As we entered the auditorium they had Christmas music playing which again added to the excitement and many members of the audience were happily singing along, with some of the younger audience members dancing in their seats, my daughter included. The show followed the traditional story of Peter Pan with lots of pantomime elements! The musical numbers were well chosen. Happy was a super one to start with, visually stunning and uplifting. My personal favourite was Something Stupid sang by Smee (Bradley Walsh) and two other pirates. It was hilarious, perfect comic timing. My three children’s favourite song was the 12 Days of Christmas, perfectly rewritten for this show. It was sung by three cast members and was therefore a very fast and hectic number! They loved the fact that we all were encouraged to join in with ‘On the fifth day of Christmas my captain gave to me five toilet rolls’ and ‘ On the first day of Christmas my Captain gave to me a bra that was made to hold three’. Bradley Walsh was hilarious during this number continually interacting with the audience throughout the whole thing. My children enjoyed this so much we had a rendition of it this morning over breakfast!

The actors were all perfectly cast and completely believable in their roles! So much so that my daughter Sophia (5) was in tears when she thought Tinkerbell was dead. Cue audience participation and some ‘magic’ and all was well in the world again. This was a fabulous pantomime with all the key elements and is definitely a must see! It was perfectly pitched to appeal to all members of the family. My son Samuel (9) loved Bradley Walsh as Smee and the way he interacted with the audience. He also loved Flawless (an award winning dance act) who played Indians and pirates did some amazing street dancing. Lucy (7) loved all the good characters and in particular enjoyed the Finale. Sophia adored Tinkerbell perfectly played by Francesca Mills. Personally I spent the entire time laughing, booing, hissing and cheering.

A perfect pantomime for the festive season. If you are planning to see a panto then this is THE ONE to see! We give it a side-splitting 5 out of 5!
