Last night myself and a friend went to the Theatre Royal in Brighton to see Peter Pan Goes Wrong. I don’t know what I was expecting that this was way better than I could have imagined, there was loads of slapstick comedy and lots of laugh out loud till you cry moments. It’s difficult to explain the show without spoiling it for others but it’s a bit like a pantomime with moments of “he’s behind you”, “Oh no he’s not”.

It’s still the tale of Peter Pan with your favourite characters such as Hook and Tinkerbell. The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society set out to present the classic tale but anything that can go wrong definitely does go wrong, from collapsing bunkbeds, a fall from a flying Peter Pan and not forgetting that out of control revolving stage getting faster and faster and it’s done in such a clever way with an amazing spinning three sided set.

The actors were brilliant how they kept a straight face is beyond me the laughs just kept coming and coming by the end your face aches from laughing so much this is by far the most hilarious show I’ve ever seen, the writers and actors and everyone involved have done an amazing job I thought being Peter Pan that it may be aimed at the younger audience but it is most definitely a production for all ages. There wasn’t any actor that stood out above the others; I think they were all brilliant.

I love the narrator who also played Mr Smee and the Leonie Hill who played Wendy was constantly dancing around but every character left a mark and was totally unforgettable.

This was our first visit to the Theatre Royal in Brighton it was about a five minute walk from Brighton train station but there is a carpark to the back of the theatre if you choose to drive. Inside the theatre was lovely and very grand and more leg room then most I’ve been to.

Peter Pan Goes Wrong is a must see, you won’t be disappointed! A big thumbs up and I will be recommending this to all my friends and family.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
