We recently tried Pig Goes Pop from Drumond Park. The idea of this game is to feed your pig without bursting open his coat.
My first thoughts when the box arrived were that this was going to a rather silly game and not much fun, feeding a pig with burgers waiting for him to go pop! I was wrong.
On opening the box I found a rather large pig (about 9” tall) that looks like a chef with a spatula in his hand, a packet of different coloured plastic burgers with numbers on the bottom and a dice with symbols on not numbers. The rules and instructions of the game are printed on the back of the box. The is very minimal setup needed to start playing, twist the pigs tall to make sure that all the air is expelled from his belly and then push his arms forward, put all the burgers down so that their numbers are not showing. Now you are ready to start playing.
The youngest player starts first by rolling the dice:
if the dice shows a single colour you pick up a burger of that colour
if it shows the four colour circle you and pick any colour burger
if it shows the cross or there are no burgers of the colour thrown you skip a turn
You then pop the burger into the pig’s mouth and push down on his head pumping it the number of times that was printed on the burger, this causes his belly to inflate. This continues until the pig’s coat bursts open and his arms fly backwards. Whoever causes the pig to go pop is the loser.
Overall we found this game to be lots of fun and entertaining. I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, me or my niece (this is now her favourite game at the moment). It is a great game not just for kids but the whole family. It is very easy to setup and it can be taken anywhere as the pieces can be left inside the pig until you are ready to play again. At £19.99 RRP it is good value money. A great game which will keep everyone amused.
It is suitable for 2-6 players for age 4 and upwards.
