We paid a family visit to the relaunch of Play at Brewers Fayre as fun factory has undergone a refurbishment and is brand spanking new.
Having never visited pre-refurb I can’t comment on how it has altered however the staff were happy and excited so this spoke volumes. I do believe that there is a cost attached but I was having so much fun with my twins that it slipped my mind to check (£3 for 1½ hours).
The play zone is through a separate room from the restaurant. There are table surrounding the soft play. With its classic British branding from the Beano with Dennis the Menace it stands out and fun and the kids there were totally enjoyed themselves.
My pair managed to let off a tonne of steam climbing the structure and investigating the play space. My twins are 3 and they got fully onboard with the entertainment trying their hand a colouring, opting in on face painting and enjoying all aspects of the play zone with an animal shaped balloon and often a Gnasher soft toy in tow.
In the corner behind a snack bar there is a den that is a suitable space to host a birthday party and from a quick glance on the website the per head cost was very reasonable.
Kids also have an opportunity (weather permitting) to visit the outdoor playground I did not pay much attention to this but they older kids seemed to be enjoying it.
The staff were polite, chatty and attentive and seemed happy in their work.
The Old Brickworks is nice warm and welcoming restaurant although the baby changing about the sink is hard to use when you’re a shorty like me. However nice to see that the men’s toilet also have baby changing.
From the toddlers perspective the boys totally enjoyed it and spent the whole afternoon telling me about it like I has not been there.
Their only minor grumbles were their fear of the big Dennis The Menace. 6am this morning I was told ‘I don’t like that menace mama’ .
They said they sauce with the donuts was yacky and I was to tell the man it must be chocolate and four donuts.
The food was nice good value grub, the veggie sausages were the best I’ve had in a long time. The desert a large slice of yumminess. The meat eaters empty plates showed they enjoyed their food so thumbs up all round.
A great family time was had and we will without a doubt return.
