Prezzybox Smartphone Projector Review

In a world where we are all glued to our smartphones we increasingly download and watch movies and TV series on our phones – but despite advances in screen quality, viewing on a smartphone screen doesn’t quite match the cinematic experience. The Prezzybox Smartphone projector has been designed as a solution to this problem. It’s a nifty, retro-styled projector which you can pop your phone into and let the 8x magnification lens project your phone screen onto a wall or screen.

The product arrived well-packaged in a box which contains all the projector components and clear instructions. The projector itself requires assembly, and the superglue is not included, so it’s wise to make sure you have some in the house before the product arrives. The kids helped me to assemble the projector, which was a relatively intuitive process. The projector is made of very sturdy cardboard, and seems robust enough that you could take it with you when you are out and about.

Once assembled you simply select what you want to watch on your smartphone (we watched Peppa Pig episodes), press play, and place your phone inside the projector. We aimed the projector at a blank white wall, and also tried it against a light-coloured curtain. Both worked well, but we found the image was best in a very dark room, and with the screen brightness turned up, as you might expect. The kids were enthralled by seeing the large-image projection in their own home, and were soon plotting movie nights with friends. They’ve already worked out that this will work well on an upcoming camping trip, projected onto the light canvas walls of the tent.

Retailing at £15.95 this offered great value for money – a brilliantly inventive gift for people who already have everything, especially those who are glued to their smartphones. It turned an otherwise solitary viewing tool into a family-experience.  We were pleasantly surprised by this product, and I can see us making great use of it, I’m off to watching Singing in the Rain, in the bath.
