We have just been to the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford to see the musical Rock of Ages.
On arrival and picking up our tickets we were shown, by very helpful staff, to our seats, which were off centre, near the front. This gave us a very good view. Looking round, the audience seemed to be of a mixed age group.
The curtain then opened to the scene which was set as a Sunset Strip in L.A in the eighties. In a club called Bourbon Room where Drew who is played by (Noel Sullivan) is working as a barman but has dreams of becoming a rock star one day. This is where he meets and falls for Sherrie played by (Cordelia Farnworth) who has just arrived from Kansas, and has dreams of being an actress. But a German developer Hertz Kilneman, played by (Jack Lord) has plans to demolish the strip and the club and turn it into a shopping mall.
I would recommend going to this show, it has a very good storyline, with a talented, funny, witty and entertaining cast. The band were fantastic musicians, who played songs such as We Built This City, Here I Go Again, I Want To Know What Love Is, which was my favourite, and a few more, finishing with Final Countdown which had all the audience on their feet, clapping and singing along.
We had a very enjoyable evening, and will be telling all our family and friends, as this is a must see show.
A light-hearted, funny musical. Definitely worth seeing.
Tickets cost from £17 to £35 (plus £2.50 online booking fee or £1 by phone/counter).
