You never know what you’ll get with a tribute act, images of Elvis impersonators always go through my mind, so when we were asked to review a Fleetwood Mac tribute act I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect! We needn’t have worried though as the show begins with an endorsement from Mick Fleetwood and any lingering doubts are blown away when the band take to the stage.

The eight musicians take us through 40 years of Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hits with the show split into three sections; the first half sees the whole band playing some of the classics, a highlight for me was Amanda Kostadinov’s “Songbird”. After the interval the show took on more of a blues feel with tunes from the earlier days with Dave Goldberg moving to the front of stage as Peter Green. He demonstrated a depth of skill, playing not just keyboards but guitar and mandolin too as well as being a cracking vocalist. Finally the rest of the band returned to the stage for another stint of classic tunes that had the audience dancing in the aisles for the last few tracks which included “Tusk” and “Don’t Stop”.

It is difficult to pick highlights with such a good band, each member performed excellently and at times it was difficult to tell the difference between them and the real Fleetwood Mac. For me special praise must go to Ben Hughes whose guitar solo at the start of “Big Love” was spectacular. Pair these performances with the tunes of Fleetwood Mac and excellent stage lighting and we have a brilliant night out.
