Salter NutriPro 1200 Blender Review

Reviewed by David Savage

With 4 year old twin boys in the house that are very fussy eaters and a nightmare to get them to eat fruit and vegetables I was looking for alternative ways to get them to eat healthier foods. Help arrived in the form of the Salter NutriPro 1200 Blender, enabling me to make fruit-packed smoothies and juices.

When it arrived, the contents of the box were:

1x NutriPro 1200 Blender base unit, 6-blade lid attachment, 1 litre blending cup, 2x 800ml blending cups, 2 easy-drink lids, 2 storage lids and instruction manual that includes recipes.

Having never used a smoothie maker or blender before I was eager to try it out so popped out to the supermarket and picked up a variety of fruits.

While the manual contains 50 recipes (with names like Morning Zing Zinger and Fighting Fit Energiser) I just wanted to start with something simple with a fruit I know the boys would probably eat, so I decided on just a banana smoothie (although no recipe in the manual for that). I added a banana, some Greek yogurt and milk and following the instructions in the manual started blending for 5-10 seconds at a time until the mixture appeared nice and smooth. When ready I poured into cups for the boys’ taste tests. One loved it, the other wasn’t so keen. On trying myself it was a bit of a sharp taste so retried again but this time adding some ice cream. This was a much better result and both boys drank their smoothies.

We have since tried apples, apples mixed with banana, strawberries etc. and some have required a few tries to get great a taste. Now that I have got the hang of it I will be trying some of the recipes from the book. These are all healthy are contain fruits, veg and nuts.

The NutriPro 1200 Blender has 1200w of power and combined with the 6-blade lid attachment create really smooth smoothies and lock in all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals from the fruit and veg. It is very easy to use and keep clean. With its deep red base it also looks very smart in the kitchen.

The Salter NutriPro 1200 Blender is a great way to get your 5-a-day for you and your children, even fussy eaters like the twins. It really has gone down well and while had a few hits and misses experimenting with different flavours it is a fantastic way of getting kids to have fruit every day.

It blends and smooths very fast, creating perfectly smooth smoothies (no lumpy bits). We are yet to try juices but can’t see any problems with this.

So whether you just want to create your own healthy drinks and smoothies or, like me, have fussy little eaters, the Salter NutriPro 1200 Blender is the perfect addition to any kitchen and is a great help for maintaining a balanced and healthy diet.

I can’t recommend it highly enough!
