I started reading this book with great excitement as I love Sherlock Holmes. Therefore I was slightly concerned that the first page was really difficult to read and I had to go back a couple of times to read it again. I wasn’t sure if it was the style of writing but after finishing the book I feel the first couple of paragraphs just don’t flow very well. However my concerns about not enjoying the book were unfounded as once I was onto page 2 of the book all was good again.

Pennie has captured the writing style of Conan Doyle very well. The book is fast paced and drags the reader along at break neck speed. The author teases you with clues that make you think you will be able to figure it all out but you know fine well that you will be on the last page before Sherlock enlightens everyone.

Thoroughly enjoyable short story and I would definitely read more of this author’s work.
