Shrektacular, Shrektastic, Shrekcellent!!

Shrek’s Adventure was a fantastic experience. We visited the newly opened London attraction today with children of 6, 8 & 10 years old. It is based on Dreamwork’s hit film Shrek. Throughout the tour you meet many of the characters – Princess Fiona, Gingerbread Man, Donkey and of course Shrek himself.

We arrived at our allotted time and then spent 45 minutes queueing before the ‘tour’ started, which was rather a long time for children to wait when we were pre-booked.

The staff were amazing, great with the kids and really helpful. From start to finish the attention to detail and special effects are first class.

The adventure is split into 12 parts and is interactive involving some of the kids (and adults) at times!

The tour kicked off with the highlight for us, the 4D magic bus ride with Donkey as bus driver. This is DreamWorks piece de resistance, with 4D animation… it is amazing. The kids loved it but the 6 year old was only reassured we were not flying through the sky by showing her the floor! The other favourite for us was the mirror maze – how clever.

When the tour ends there are lots of opportunities to take your own photographs with Shrek and then various Dreamwork’s characters (Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar Penguins etc…) but you can buy your own personalised tour book containing various photographs of your party for £25, which we didn’t think it was too expensive for what it is.

Shrek’s Adventure is based in Riverside Building, part of County Hall. It is just next to the London Eye on the South Bank close to Waterloo Underground and Rail stations so very accessible.

The Adventure is amazing and thoroughly enjoyed by both grown-ups and kids. It does seem quite expensive at over £100 for 2 adults and 3 children and lasts less than 2 hours (including queuing time).
