I was recently sent a Stellar Leuvan Stove Top Kettle to review. The product arrived extremely well packaged and protected.
The first thing that impressed me was the unfussy design and highly tactile feel of the kettle. The body is a curved dome of highly polished, easily cleanable, stainless steel, and the sturdy handle has a smooth to the touch matt finish.
This product is suitable for all hob types (Gas, Electric, Aga, Rayburn, Halogen, Induction, Ceramic). I tested this particular item on a standard gas hob.
The water is poured into the kettle via the spout, and because the spout is reasonably wide it is very easy to fill either directly from a tap or from a filtered water jug. I followed the manufacturer’s instructions and boiled a couple kettle-fulls of water to alleviate the chances of bad tastes caused by any residues left during the manufacturing process.
The maximum fill level is clearly marked on the outside of the kettle. Initially I thought this was a bit awkward to gauge (I’m more familiar with a see-through water level marker on the kettle we use every day), however I discovered that the fill level is duplicated on this inside which is an excellent idea, and alleviates this problem completely.
The kettle holds 1.6 litres of water, and is not excessively heavy even when filled, obviously the time it takes for the water to boil will vary according to what type of hob you are using.
When the kettle boils the user is alerted with a satisfactory high pitched whistle, an emotive sound which took me back in time to pre-electric and pre-automatic switch off days.
The handle is set back from the spout therefore there is very little chance of scalding when pouring the boiled water into cups or a teapot.
The end result of using this product was a very tasty cup of tea.
It should be noted that this product has a lifetime guarantee.
This is a very high quality product which is as aesthetically pleasing as it is practical to use, a great addition to any kitchen.
