Moccis are luxury hand-sewn Swedish Moccasins. They are a hybrid of a sock and a slipper. Moccis aren’t like many slippers you’d find in shoe shops. They aren’t padded. Wearing them it is like being barefoot. They have washable leather soles making them non-slip. The upper of the shoe is knitted into designs. All materials to make the Moccis are ethically produced. They have a magic invisible elastic which somehow manages to keep the shoe in shape and makes sure that they don’t bunch down around the ankles. They are all hand-sewn and the designs are really funky. You can buy these for children and adults and you can get matching ones for all the family. The designs are limited edition making them sought after and after reading their website I found they have many celebrities endorsing them…. I can see why.

They arrived inside a clear soft plastic case which showed the Moccis off in a great light, allowing the product to speak for itself without any gimmicky wrapping, they felt honest. Unwrapping and taking them out of their packaging I could tell I was dealing with a luxury product from the high quality way they were presented. The design I went for was called Stoney River, they are grey with a lovely turquoise star print on them. I have rather large feet an 8 or 9 and none of the overly girlie prints ran to this size. It did disappoint me that I had a more limited choice. I really liked the style I had though and I felt the sizing was accurate, they aren’t sold in individual sizes but in bands, mine was 8-9.5 and they fit well.

I am a self-confessed slipper lover. If I’m really honest they took me a couple of hours to get used to. At first the feeling of being bare foot seemed at odds to me, my slippers in my head meant comfort and padding. However I kept with them and within an afternoon I got it. They offer the ease of movement of being barefoot, slippers normally clunk around and you walk with a different gait than being without shoes. But also they offer the warmth of the knitted sock upper and the protection that the non-slip bottom provides. They are so much more than slipper socks which I first likened them to. They also look amazing, I liked looking down at my cool feet. As a novice I did attempt to wear with socks once… this didn’t work, they are much more comfortable and breathable on a bare foot.

I tested these out during June when it was really quite warm so being able to pop them into the washing machine was a real plus, they didn’t take long to dry and back on they went.

I love the idea of using these as first cruising type shoes for children, as they will offer the benefits of non-slip without being a hard formed shoe around their foot. I intend to get some for my baby who is just about ready to cruise.

Price wise they retail at between £22.97 to £47.97, my particular pair retail at £32.97. I feel you are paying a fair price for a luxury hand-sewn product. Although I haven’t had my pair for long I can just feel that they will last a long time, they feel good quality, well made and washed well.

These get a well-deserved 5 stars.
